SGD 129 million social bond issuance recognized, reflecting international investor confidence and Thailand's role in global capital markets.

Muangthai Capital Public Company Limited (MTC) received the Best Social Bond – Thailand award at The Asset Triple A Awards for Sustainable Finance 2026. The award recognizes MTC's social bond issuance totaling SGD 129 million, a milestone in its fundraising in overseas capital markets. The transaction also reflects the confidence of global institutional investors and supports MTC's mission to expand fair and equal access to funding, improve quality of life, and strengthen Thailand's grassroots economy sustainably.

Parithad Petampai, Chairman of the Executive Committee of Muangthai Capital Public Company Limited, said the award was formally presented by Kaiwan Pongnontakul, Head of Financial Institution Coverage at Standard Chartered. The bank served as sole global coordinator and sole bookrunner for the bond issuance. The presentation celebrated a significant fundraising transaction for the company.

“This award is another source of pride for MTC and shows that capital markets can generate financial returns while making a positive difference to society. We thank Standard Chartered for its strong cooperation at every stage, from structuring the transaction and reaching investors to completing it successfully. This achievement for both organizations is also another important step in developing Thailand's sustainable capital markets,” said Parithad.

The transaction comprised senior unsecured social bonds with three-year and five-year maturities totaling SGD 129 million, issued under Regulation S and guaranteed by the Credit Guarantee and Investment Facility (CGIF), which is supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). It was MTC's first Singapore dollar bond issuance, the first CGIF-guaranteed SGD bond issued by a Thai listed company, and the first public social bond in Singapore issued by a Thai non-bank financial institution (NBFI). The transaction represents a milestone for sustainable capital markets in ASEAN.

MTC will use the proceeds to support lending under its Social Bond Framework. The loans aim to expand access to financial services for individuals, small business owners, farmers and people underserved by formal finance. They also support the reduction of financial inequality, job creation and sustainable growth in local economies, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

MTC continues to pursue its goal of becoming a world-class Thai microfinance provider. It aims to grow alongside strong corporate governance, prudent risk management and ESG business practices. The company continues to receive support from leading international financial institutions, including Standard Chartered, CGIF, IFC, JICA, KfW DEG and ADB, as it works to expand access to sustainable finance and improve the quality of life of people in Thailand over the long term.
